Nightly News for 11/16

  •  We will be doing a Lockout Drill on Friday. We plan to do this drill at 2:45 on Friday afternoon. As a reminder a Lockout Drill means we secure the perimeter. Students should remain in their classrooms and access to hallways, bathrooms, etc. should be limited. The goal is to keep danger from outside of the building from entering. This could be police activity in the neighborhood etc. We are choosing to do this at this time as another way to keep the halls clear at the end of the day on Friday before a long break. Let me know if you have concerns.
  • When setting up your Google Link for conferences you will need to take a step to ensure you have a "waiting room" for those who scheduled to see you. This would be in the event they are early, or your other conference is running a tad late. Monica can guide you through this process, but here is a quick go by:

Google Meet doesn't actually call it a waiting room, like Zoom does.

You'll go into the gear/cog on your Google Meet and make sure Quick Access is turned off.

Then whenever someone wants to join, you'll have to accept them (or decline). It'll pop up on your screen. As a reminder for meetings that have an interpreter scheduled you will be admitting the family as well as the interpreter.

If you aren't ready for them, or if it isn't their time, just don't accept them. This way parents all use the same link but, don't overlap.

  • Parents should have started plugging in conference times. We are asking that you send a reminder home with students on Friday (K-5 this would be with their report cards) that has their time and access information highlighted.
