Nightly News 11/9

  • I will be out of the building until approximately 12:30 tomorrow. Emily will be leaving around 1:30. An admin will be on site throughout the day, but wanted you to be aware of this.
  • Safety Team meeting met this morning and brought up the red lights on air filters. There are several filters in each unit. One filter is easy to remove and can be cleaned by the user. We are not asking you to do this, but are sharing this information. Some units were placed in your room with instructions, while others were not. We did send out the instruction manual earlier. If you are in need of this let Shannon know. With all of that being said, there is no clear information at this time on who will be servicing these units. Tino is working on getting some answers and we will do the same. Some units have been in use since last April, while others have only been in use since September. Unfortunately, this is not something that was clearly tracked. We will keep you updated on any information we receive.
  • The website and PD information for Friday will be shared out tomorrow afternoon. This came in Admin connect this morning. I do not have any other information on this.
  • To review today's Conference information provided during staff meeting
  1. Forms needing translation should be completed by this Friday the 12th at 10:00 AM . This is in order to provide staff who will be translating ample time to complete this task.
  2. Conference forms should be completed by the end of the day on the 17th. We are asking these are turned into the office so they can be copied. The goal is to send these home on Friday the 19th so parents have them in hand when you conference with them.
  3. Conference forms should go home for K-5 students on Friday the 20th. The office has the report card envelopes that get signed and returned. We are also asking you to be sure to send home a written reminder of the time (maybe put it in with the conference form or staple it) on this Friday as well. There are copies you may use here:
  4. We will be sending out information to parents/families about how to sign up for conferences on Sunday late afternoon and it will go out in our newsletter on Monday as well. We will continue to send reminders out throughout the week. Classroom teaches are strongly encouraged to send out Reminds, send notes, make calls, etc. to help get this information out. Our goal is always 100% attendance. Set a goal for your attendance!
  5. A reminder that office staff have made efforts to schedule families needing translation as much as possible, but oversights do exist. Please feel free to ask Monica and Naima if you have questions.
  6. The week of November 15th-19th communication from both the office and homeroom staff around times, etc.
  7. In the event you have specific concerns, etc. please communicate with Emily or me.
  • This came out in Admin Connect and will also be shared in Teacher Connect: We have learning acceleration funds to support after school and before school tutoring for students using our High Dosage Tutoring model.

Please see this slide deck for details about options available!

Educators (certified teachers, EAs, and paras) would commit to providing tutoring three times a week for 30-45 minutes each time using provided materials for 4th-8th grade to provide Tier 3 support in foundational reading skills. An option for a teacher designed micropilot is also available. Educators providing tutoring will be paid extended hours for the time tutoring as well as an hour a week for planning. Training and biweekly PLCs will be provided. If anyone is potentially interested let me know.

You can also join office hours with your questions. Dana Nerenberg, Director of Learning Acceleration can be reached at dnerenberg@pps.net.

Or come to office hours at this meet link!
