Conferences!
We have started the process of scheduling interpreters for conferences. Homeroom teachers PLEASE turn in the class lists with language preferences that were handed out last week. We only have five that have been turned in.
Linked below are the two options we will be using for conference scheduling. Please vote by 12:00 tomorrow. We will be making a decision at that time.
The first option is to use an online scheduling program that allows parents to make their own appointment. It also sends out reminders, links, etc. to them. Teachers and office staff can access it as well and plug people in. The drawback of this option is specialists and others may have difficulty being able to determine when classroom teachers are holding conferences. We would have to work through this a bit more to fully know.
The second option is to use the same Google Doc we used last year. This document is not accessed by parents, but is easy for all staff to view. It will not send out reminders to parents.
Please note that either way we will be asking teachers to set up ONE Google Meet link for the duration of conferences and to utilize the waiting room option. We will talk more about how to use this function.

We have been asked to collaborate with Apano and a local business on a mural located on 82nd, near the overpass. Thank you Michele Stahlecker for bringing this opportunity to HP and to Sarah Medsker for agreeing to work with students on this project. We are looking for a K-5 grade level and/or class to help with the design of the mural. Our middle school students will make the design come to life. K-5 teachers please share with Sarah, Michele or myself if you are interested in this project. Please note, we will only choose one grade level for this work.
Valerie asked that I share this: The yearbook staff is in need of more candid pictures of our students throughout the school day for our yearbook, and we are hoping to get some taken this Thursday (October 28). Yearbook students will have a badge to identify themselves, and they will be using their cell phones to take pictures. If there are any issues at all with students abusing this privilege, please ask them to put their phone away and give you their badge. You can then deliver the badge to me and let me know what happened. I know that having students use their cell phones may lead to some issues, but I trust that these students can be responsible with their phones, and there isn't really another way for them to get the pictures we need. Ka'dijah Keita would also like to take pictures during outdoor school using her cell phone so that we have pictures of this event for the yearbook. If you have any questions about any of this, please let me know.
